About the developer:
I'm a sole indie developer who made a few games under: Ginger Crab. Do follow me on socials and wishlist on Steam!
About PROT:
Prot, an abandoned robot, is the only hope for the Wells family members stranded across a number of moons. Guided remotely by eldest daughter Cass, Prot must build and upgrade a rocket ship in order to reach the family. Gather and process resources, solve puzzles and interact with the various quirky mechanical and organic inhabitants of the moons, deciding what to bring with you on your adventure.
Features:
- Real time. Robots, machines and creatures continue moving, processing or eating whether the game is running or not. Set Truck off to collect something? It will be there when you next open the game. Optionally be kept up to date via emails from Cass and Prot.
- Real life. Choices matter in Prot: there is no option to load a save, or restart a checkpoint (although once complete you are free to restart the game, or continue exploring). Time continues uninterrupted with no rewind. Luckily there is no death (for Prot anyway): Prot’s automatic teleport system will take him to safety if near destruction.
- Energy Conservation. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Everything is recyclable, and everything can be re-created using a Fabricator (once you have the blueprint). Recycle fragments of exploded bombs to create new bombs.
- Play your way. Many aspects are optional and there are often multiple methods of solving problems. Doors can be blown off or the key can be found. Weevils can be whacked in their nest, or captured in other ways. Enemy robots can be destroyed or….well I don’t want to give too much away.
- Through discarded sketches, notes and messages from Cass, gradually discover the story of the Wells family members’ fates. Choose whether and when to help them.
- Persistence. Everything on the moons remains where you left it (unless it gets eaten by a Space Weevil), and you are free to return whenever you have resources to do so.
- Mini-games that look back to retro games of the past are integrated. The lunar lander game is not a mere distraction: it's also how you land your completed spacecraft
- Explore varied moons each with new challenges, puzzles and revelations
- Eclectic music accompanies and punctuates your journey. Sometimes stirring classical strings, sometimes pulsing electronica.
